I can’t quite get enough of this song, which basically sounds like a Decemberists-style sea shanty. “In Our Talons” is, however, a bit more anthemic and features more prominent female vocals; the sound is definitely a unique one. This track is off of the Bowerbirds’ first album, Hymns For A Dark Horse, which was released July 10th. Not much comes out of North Carolina that’s worth speaking about, but the Bowerbirds are an exception. Not to mention — they live in a trailer in the woods, had summer jobs in the swamps of South Carolina, and have some sweet artwork on their album cover and website, because the band’s Beth Tacular is a painter by day and a musician by night. I look forward to listening to the album, for sure.
